All three are legitimate, well-established tools — this is meant as an honest breakdown of where they actually differ, not a takedown. Pricing and features change; verify current numbers on each vendor's own site before deciding.

UptimeRobot's free plan has more monitors (50 vs. our 10), but it's restricted to personal, non-commercial use. If you're monitoring anything for a business, that free tier isn't actually available to you on their terms of service. PulseChecker's free plan carries no such restriction — a real business can run it for free, indefinitely.
1-minute checks are included from $9/mo here — UptimeRobot doesn't offer that interval until its $98/mo Scale plan — and our own Scale plan ($89/mo) goes down to 30 seconds. UptimeRobot's fastest tier (10-second checks) is real, but it's their most expensive plan by a wide margin. At every price point below that, PulseChecker checks at least as often, for less.
If you want synthetic multi-step testing without a separate product or per-check pricing, that's where PulseChecker is structurally different from all three alternatives above: journey testing is bundled into every plan (including Free), rather than sold as its own product (Pingdom) or not offered at all (UptimeRobot, Better Stack's uptime plan).
If you want an actual phone call when something critical goes down, PulseChecker includes on-call phone escalation from $39/mo (Growth). Better Stack offers something comparable, but as a separate incident-management product priced on top of uptime monitoring rather than bundled into one plan.
If you specifically need AI agent run monitoring — tracking a long-running agent's start/finish check-ins and flagging hangs, timeouts, or malformed output — none of the three alternatives above offer it as a first-class monitor type; PulseChecker does.
